He made two extensive trips through North Korea as the founder of a charity that donated vitamins to orphans in that country. While still in private practice in Vancouver, David was appointed as a part-time Member of the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal in 2013.

He has appeared before Parliament, been a guest speaker at numerous law schools and colleges as well as at international human rights conferences. While serving in Ottawa, David attended several human rights conferences at the United Nations in Geneva. He has also been a contributor to the National Post.
