OTTAWA, September 14, 2012 – The Macdonald-Laurier Institute (MLI) is pleased to announce that one of Canada’s best known media commentators and economists, Linda Nazareth, is joining the institute as a Senior Fellow for Economics and Population Change.
According to MLI Managing Director Brian Lee Crowley, “Linda is a well-recognised media figure who has mastered the art of applying her extensive economics background to illuminating the issues of the moment in a way that both informs and entertains. She joins a growing list of distinguished Canadian and international experts in all fields of public policy who are joining forces with MLI to improve the quality of public policy.”
Linda Nazareth is an economist, author, television broadcaster, and speaker. As the Principal of Relentless Economics Inc., she also provides specialized economics research and consultancy services to companies, non-profit organizations and governments. For over a decade, she was the in-house economist for Business News Network (BNN). In this position, she covered the economic news of the day on-air, looking at the markets and the economic indicators and giving viewers analysis and context. Prior to joining BNN, she was a Senior Economist with CIBC and earlier in her career, she was an economist with the federal government where she specialized in demographic and labour market forecasting. She holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and a Master of Arts in Economics, both from the University of Toronto.
