On the occasion of the launch of the Macdonald-Laurier Institute, Prime Minister Stephen Harper invited Managing Director Brian Lee Crowley to meet him in his office in the Langevin Block to discuss the new institute’s plans to bring new vitality to the policy debate in Ottawa. Crowley gave the prime minister a copy of the institute’s first paper, Free to Learn. Mr Harper promised to pass the paper along to Indian and Northern Affairs Minister Hon. Chuck Strahl. They also discussed the institute’s forthcoming book, The Canadian Century, as well as a number of current policy issues. The prime minister indicated that he was looking forward to the new institute’s contributions to improving policy in Ottawa.
