OTTAWA, ON (Nov. 23, 2017): Today, the Macdonald-Laurier Institute appointed Jane Londerville, a respected expert on housing issues, as a Munk Senior Fellow.
Jane Londerville is a retired Associate Professor from the University of Guelph, where she taught real estate finance and appraisal in the B.Comm program in Real Estate and Housing for over 20 years.
“Jane Londerville’s work has been critical in educating the next generation of real estate and housing leaders. She has been involved in consultations with the federal government several times during the last two years as they developed their national housing strategy,” said MLI Managing Director Brian Lee Crowley. “Her breadth of work has facilitated a growth of knowledge surrounding real estate and housing in Canada.”
Londerville has published extensively on housing issues with the Macdonald-Laurier Institute. Highlights include:
- A 2017 paper on Ottawa’s national housing strategy
- A 2012 policy briefing on the Canadian Mortgage Finance System
- A 2010 paper on mortgage insurance in Canada
Londerville most recently co-authored an MLI report, A Home To Call Our Own: A Federal Strategy for Affordable and Responsible Homeownership. Londerville joins a distinguished list of some of Canada’s leading thinkers in MLI’s Munk Senior Fellowship program.

Londerville was a management consultant specializing in real estate with Woods Gordon (now Ernst and Young) for 6 years prior to moving to academia. Ms. Londerville has an honours B.Sc. degree in Mathematics and Economics from Queen’s University and an MBA from the Harvard Business School. Her research interests include real estate finance, the provision of affordable housing, life lease housing for seniors and new format retailing. She also studied Urban Economics and Real Estate at the Ph.D. level at UBC
