Former Prime Minister Brian Mulroney spoke to the Canadian Council of Chief Executives in Montreal on October 18th. The former PM counselled Canada’s business leaders on how to keep the country moving forward economically. He warned, “Vigilance, creativity and innovation are essential to a prosperous future for Canada.”
Government also has a key role to play according to the former PM. In particular he underlined a recommendation in the Macdonald-Laurier Institute’s in our first book, The Canadian Century.
“We need to maintain Canada’s position as an attractive place for investment and, as the Macdonald-Laurier Institute recently observed, with a specific corporate tax advantage vis-à-vis the U.S. This was actually a prescription advocated by Laurier more than a century ago. It is equally valid today.”
The message from the Canadian Century is being delivered by a diverse cross-section of those who have read it in both Canada and the US. We are glad to see Mr. Mulroney joining the list.
