On May 28, the Macdondald-Laurier Institute hosted an insightful roundtable discussion at Kildare House in Ottawa, focusing on the security implications from Russia’s aggression in Ukraine. This event brought together a diverse group of experts, including embassy representatives, defence and security professionals, and academics.
Moderated by Dr. Balkan Devlen, Senior Fellow and Director of MLI Transatlantic Program, the roundtable featured key members of the Ukrainian delegation:
- Dr. Hanna Shelest, Director of Security Studies, Foreign Policy Council “Ukrainian Prism”
- Dr. Yevgeniya Gaber, Professor of National Security, George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies
- Yevhen Hlibovytsky, Director of Frontier Institute
The discussion provided an in-depth examination of the current situation in Ukraine and explored the broader implications of Russia’s invasion on the Transatlantic region. The Ukrainian delegation offered a first-hand analysis of the prevailing political landscape in Ukraine, which was a highlight of the event.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to all attendees for their participation and contributions to the discussion. Special thanks to Dr. Balkan Devlen for his expert moderation and to our distinguished Ukrainian speakers for their valuable insights.
