On January 30, the Macdonald-Laurier Institute convened a vital roundtable discussion in partnership with the Embassy of Kosovo.
The discussion, moderated by Foreign Policy Program Director Jonathan Berkshire Miller, explored key security concerns affecting the region, with a particular focus on Kosovo, and also touched on the broader context of the ongoing Ukraine-Russia conflict, Russian interference in Southeastern Europe, and intelligence operations in Serbia.
Distinguished participants include Deputy Foreign Minister of Kosovo, Ms. Liza Gashi, an accomplished policy leader and innovator with extensive expertise in diaspora engagement, public diplomacy, and international development. Ms. Gashi has played a pivotal role in shaping Kosovo’s policies on migration and diaspora matters, and her leadership in the nonprofit sector has significantly contributed to Kosovo’s international presence.
The discussion offered insightful perspectives on the evolving security dynamics in the Balkan region, and the implications for Canada and its allies.
We thank all participants for contributing their expertise to this important dialogue.
