An article in iPolitics posted Dec. 11 reports on the Macdonald-Laurier Institute’s decision to name Foreign Minister John Baird its Policy Maker of the Year. The December issue of the institute’s flagship publication Inside Policy is devoted to a number of year-end features, including two profiles of Baird. “The magazine dedicated a dozen pages of its December issue to examining Baird’s role thus far as Canada’s foreign minister, including an interview between the minister and Earnscliffe Strategy Group’s Robin Sears”, writes Michelle Zilio of iPolitics. The companion piece is written by former diplomat Colin Robertson, who “said that should Baird deliver on three key issues – his dignity agenda supporting women, children and minorities, the CIDA-DFAIT merger, and the maintenance of a strong foreign service – he will earn his place in the ‘pantheon of our great foreign ministers’.”
